Twenty years later, millions of dollars accumulated, and many goals had been accomplished as both boys implemented the philosophy of their familiy; including hard work and integrity, with gratitude for every dollar they ever made.
Both highly successful in their own right: Gary Cardone, being the CEO of a European business for a Fortune 100 company and Grant, owning three businesses and real estate holdings in excess of $100mm - one goal they had which they never achieved was to build a business together (as they had dreamed about since they were kids).
Gary had begin investing with Grant, who had originally began learning real estate in Houston, Texas during the late 80's, then moving to San Diego where he expanded his investments into apartment dwellings.
Once Gary Cardone had moved back to the US and studied the returns of his original $150k investment with his brother (in comparison to the volitility of gains / or losses by some of the "great hedge funds managers" he invested with) , they began a discussion of how they could meld their business acumen. "I was stunned by Grant's innate ability to move into markets, acquire a position and exit the position to a monetized position over and over. Twenty two deals I saw this guy complete on full turns with incredible returns exceeding 35% per year. He turned my $150k into over 2 million dollars and I "NEVER" worried about it."
For many years Grant and Gary Cardone had discussed the value of coming together to meld their synergies on capital preservation and work ethic with diverse backgrounds in commerce. This combination alone is a rare opportunity itself.
When Gary Cardone retired from energy in 2002 and returned to the U.S. they began working together. Once the credit crisis hit sending shock waves through the real estate market and upon review of all their existing holdings, all of which remained secure, they decided to ramp up their efforts by forming a venture between them to couple their skills and rapidly expand their business model, forming Cardone Real Estate Holdings.
